Your New Role
As a Legal Counsel, reporting directly to the General Manager in Portugal, you will be responsible for:
Legal Advice
- Analysing laws, rulings, contracts, and regulations to address legal concerns and safeguard the company's interests.
- Providing accurate and timely counsel on a variety of legal topics, including labour law, partnerships, international ventures, corporate finance, and NDAs.
- Drafting and solidifying agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights.
- Reviewing the legality of transactions, contracts, agreements, and joint ventures.
- Offering legal support for new projects.
- Keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations.
Policies & Governance
- Specifying internal governance policies and regularly monitoring compliance.
- Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures.
- Conducting periodic compliance assessments.
- Creating reports and managing legal documentation.
Risk Assessment
- Researching and evaluating various risk factors related to business decisions and operations.
- Applying effective risk management techniques and providing proactive advice on potential legal issues.
Cross-Communication
- Communicating and negotiating with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authorities, etc.), fostering relationships of trust.
- Collaborating with other departments to address legal issues.
- Clarifying legal language or specifications for everyone in the organisation.
- Providing training and guidance to staff on legal matters.
- Coordinating with external lawyers to assess legal issues.
What You'll Need to Succeed
The ideal candidate shall have:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Law.
- Approximately 3 to 5 years of proven experience post-Bar Association exam.
- Mandatory experience in Corporate Law, Labour Law, and Civil Law.
- Fluency in English.
- Knowledge of Mandarin is a plus.
